Vadakkumnathan Temple

Largest and ancient Shiva temples in Kerala and India. is a classic example of the Kerala style of architectrue. Vadakunnathan temple is a massive stone wall enclosing an area of nearly 9 acres(36,000m2). This temple is a classical example of Kerala style of architecture and has many decorative murals and works of art. This is the venue of the world famous Thrissur Pooram Festival celebrated annually in April-May. Non-Hindus are not allowed inside the temple.
